At BAM we understand that a new building is a means to an end for our customers. A new or refurbished building is ultimately about better performance and outcomes for the people who use it, whether it be for work, leisure, to learn, or to heal.
BAM Construct UK provides development, design, construction, facilities management and energy management services. We operate throughout England, Scotland and Wales with a network of regional divisions so that we stay close to our customers. Meanwhile as part of Royal BAM Group, an international construction services enterprise, we share and access knowledge and innovation across a network of 21,000 people working on fascinating projects all over the world. Our goal with the other companies in the Group is to be at the edge of digital technology and innovation for the benefit of our customers. We are making strides in 3D concrete printing, robotics, and prefabrication.
We have unique capabilities in BIM and in applying it the whole lifecycle of a building: We continue to develop the data in our models to deliver real building information management, i.e. full asset data in the completed model. We are able link to facilities management systems to allow for much more efficient maintenance and management of a building over its lifetime. And we look at the potential to link to other data sources to provide qualitative evaluation of how the building performs in use and to track the user experience.
It’s not just what we build for clients, it’s how we build it with them. We recognise that creating a new building can be potentially stressful for customers because it’s an investment with a lot riding on it. That’s why we say our mission is to create an enjoyable experience. Mutual trust and confidence - consultation, collaboration and partnership - that’s what makes the difference.
And we invest heavily in early involvement and collaboration with our subcontractors and supply chain to achieve the best results. BAM was the (joint) first contractor to receive the BSI’s new verification certificate for Information Management against PAS1192-2. The certificate covers a review quality management systems, supply chain engagement procedures promoting practices that foster better relationships, collaborative working methods and encouraging employee/supplier capability development.
It’s an exciting time in the built environment as data and technology are radically changing the way we work and how we can create buildings that are more sustainable, flexible and perform better than ever before for their users. We are delighted to be a main sponsor of Digital Construction Week for the second year running and look forward to meeting you over the course of the event.
